Meet the People Behind Sonetta

Family-Owned. Community-Focused. Passion-Driven.

Behind every project, event, and improvement at Sonetta Community Market is a family dedicated to creating something special. What began as a dream to build a unique gathering place has grown into a destination where craftsmanship, creativity, and community come together.

Meet Nick & Sue Thrappas…

Nick Thrappas

Founder & Visionary

For more than two decades, Nick has traveled markets throughout the East Coast and Midwest searching for unique materials, vintage treasures, and opportunities to give old items new life. His passion began even earlier while serving in the United States Air Force, where visits to markets across Europe inspired his appreciation for craftsmanship and reuse.

Nick’s background in demolition and architectural salvage has shaped much of Sonetta’s character. Throughout the property, visitors will discover repurposed materials and creative design elements that reflect his commitment to sustainability and preservation.

Opening a community market has been a lifelong dream, and Sonetta represents the culmination of that vision.

Sue Thrappas

Operations & Administration

Sue serves as the organizational backbone of Sonetta Community Market. From administration and planning to supporting day-to-day operations, she plays an essential role in ensuring the market continues to grow and serve the community effectively.

Originally from Northwestern Pennsylvania, Sue shares Nick’s passion for creating a welcoming environment where families, makers, and visitors feel at home.

A Family Effort

Creating a destination inspired by family and community.

Sonetta is a family-centered business built around the values of hard work, stewardship, creativity, and service. Every improvement, event, and future project is guided by a desire to create a place that brings people together while supporting local makers and small businesses.

Our goal is not simply to sell products. We strive to create an environment where visitors discover something unexpected, support local entrepreneurs, and become part of a thriving community centered on creativity, craftsmanship, and connection.
